THE POSITION Are you ready to take on the responsibility of leading and providing guidance for the real estate appraisal operations at the District 1 office of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation? This role involves securing legal right-of-way and acquiring necessary real estate for highway enhancements, ensuring that appraisals are fair, just, and completed promptly to adhere to project timelines.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be involved in overseeing appraisal tasks and providing guidance in technical and functional aspects of appraisal preparation, ensuring adherence to state and federal regulations.
Additionally, you will address complex appraisal issues and ensure timely completion of priority projects, as well as assist in damage valuations as necessary.
Your responsibilities include evaluating appraisal reports for compliance with standards, preparing district submissions to the central office, and resolving discrepancies with appraisers.
You will provide guidance on department requirements and preparing documentation for fee appraiser contracts are also part of the role, along with reviewing and rating fee appraisal reports with central office personnel.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after successful probationary period.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.
This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS).
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as a General Real Estate Appraiser (commonwealth title); or Three years of professional real estate appraisal experience which includes one year appraising all types of real property.
Special Requirements: All positions require possession of an active Pennsylvania Certified General Appraiser certification.
All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
