*POSITION SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES:*
Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks.
Verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations.
Prepares items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services.
Leads the work of shipping and receiving personnel performing related work.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, JOB DUTIES and COMPETENCIES: *
¨ Prepares shipments for postal or commercial conveyance; determines most economical and efficient shipping method using the “Shipping Assistant” program.
¨ Prepares bills of lading; checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct.
¨ Receives incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment; may process return shipments from customers.
¨ Inspects shipments for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel.
¨ Delivers items to requisitioning departments and utilizes Visual Manufacturing.
¨ Maintain and record shipments in the Shipping Assistant data base, prepare routine reports, and file shipping/receiving records.
¨ Access warehouse to process shipments and set alarms.
¨ Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
¨ Leads, guides, and trains three (3) employees within the Shipping Department while also assisting the Shipping Manager with managing the Shotblast and Inspection departments
¨ Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Shipping Manager.
*QUALIFICATION and EDUCATION*:
¨ High School Degree
¨ Two (2) years related experience in a manufacturing environment.
¨ Knowledge of material tracking system preferred
¨ Able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs frequently throughout the day
*SCOPE of AUTHORITY: *
· 18-22 indirect reports and no budgetary responsibility
