Position: Assistant Coach – Swimming and Diving (supplemental position)
Reports to: Head Coach - Swimming and Diving; Director of Athletics and Facilities Use

Duration: 2024-2025 School Year
Functional Purpose:
Working with the Head Coach - Swimming and Diving, the Assistant Coach - Swimming and Diving helps to lead, train, and motivate student athletes as members of the GMSD swiming and diving teams.
Job Functions:
Attends all practices and meets
Develops a sound rapport with students and provides sound leadership; responsible for being an example of good sportsmanship; applies discipline in a fair, positive, and consistent manner according to prescribed procedures; responsible for general health and welfare of students and for the actions and conduct of student-athletes; provides students with the skills, tools and knowledge to make healthy life choices in and out of the pool.
Develops sound relationships with athletes, booster clubs, parents, faculty, and community
Assists the Head Coach in any/all activities (s)he needs
Maintains cooperation with the Head Coach and Principal/Athletic Director, along with other school personnel; maintains consistent communication with the Athletic Director by keeping AD informed regarding the overall program, including trips, tournaments, meets, injuries, etc.
Helps develop a sound system for accountability, upkeep and protection of equipment, and record of inventory.
Completes appropriate paperwork, reports, and makes recommendations for improvement.
Preferred knowledge/skills/abilities:
Experience participating in and/or functioning as a coach/advisor in a particular activity.
Knowledge of rules, theory, strategy, and regulations relating to the specific activity, including rules changes and new developments.
Skill at providing leadership and developing rapport with students; constructing well organized and efficient practices and matches; communicating verbally and in writing; supervising students and school areas; and teaching good sportsmanship

Compensation: This is a GMEA-contracted position and compensation is based on the 2024-2025 GMEA contract and amount listed.
Must complete and submit all six (6) required GMSD clearances and TB test before starting.
